Personal & Commercial
For my final project in Digital Art using After Effects, I combined still animation and film to explore artists’ inner thoughts regarding praise, self-worth, and creative vulnerability. This piece is constructed from several layered animations originating from my film clips, which I broke down frame by frame and printed on newspaper. I re-scanned these frames and brought them back to life in After Effects, blending them with the original footage through layered opacity and VFXs.

- The project serves as a visual letter to the creative self that acknowledges insecurities while also celebrating the joy of making art and the vital role of community and collaboration in sustaining that passion.

Visually, the project is inspired by the grainy, nostalgic aesthetic of Super Eight film and the tactile, analog feel of newspaper print. These textures contrast but also complement one another, creating a hybrid digital/physical quality—similar to a voicemail or a personal letter that has been digitized and glitched. The newspaper animations symbolize the way creatives seek validation through media outlets. To maintain this aesthetic, I chose a traditional medium, while the Super Eight footage reflects my passion for filmmaking and the emotional honesty that drives it.
